Do You Feel Overwhelmed, Exhausted?

griefDo you feel OVERWHELMED, EXHAUSTED?

Believe me we all do, even me.  I have learnt the hard way that we simply can not keep digging ourselves further into a whole.

This is not some new year resolution.  This is something you need to do everyday.

Leading up to Christmas I was working lots of hours, preparing for Christmas and helping Emma with her anxiety.  It has been tough.

However, I vowed over the days after Christmas I was actually going to physically stop.  It was not as easy as thought it would be.  During the few days, I read two books, played on the piano, rode on the scooter with the girls and enjoyed just spending some much needed quiet time.

I know that doing something for yourself everyday would be an easy thing to do for a few days and it is very easy to fall back into old habits.  Nevertheless, I am begging you to do something for yourself every day.

Our children need a well parent.  Our relationships need happy family members.  It will be you that is going to suffer.  By not doing something everyday, your immune system will suffer and you will be setting your body up for cancer to grow.  That is not a lie, it is scientifically proven.

DO SOMETHING FOR YOU EVERYDAY!

What Did You Do For Yourself Today?

Hands up if you put yourself first?  In a room of 20 people, I would estimate that approximately 2 would put up their hands.  Would you do the task below before EVERYONE else?

Enjoying Drinks at Restaurant

If I asked why you would put yourself last, I would get the following excuses (did you notice that I put excuses instead of reasons)…

  • I have to look after children
  • I am a stay at home mum and hubby is working hard so it is not fair
  • I have to clean the house
  • I do not have time
  • I am last on the list of priority

Having ‘me’ time is extremely important everyday for everyone even if it is for 5 minutes.  They do not have to have a cost attach, it is simply just time to unwind a bit.  Some people can take this as an extreme and think just because they work hard Monday to Friday that they can be out all weekend.  Do not forget that taking time to play with your child can be a great ‘me’ time activity if you block out thoughts of work and totally focus on playing with your child.

There is no need for feeling guilt and thinking this is a joke. For too long we have put ourselves last on the equation even if there is a child or not.  It is important, children or no children, to put yourself first.  Keeping yourself well will keep you physically, mentally and spiritually well.

What activities would you like to do for me time?
